Hyde Park & the Serpentine

A short loop around the Serpentine, following lakeside paths and crossing Serpentine Bridge. Handy if you’re staying in Mayfair or Knightsbridge.

Start here

Inside the Hyde Park Corner entrance, at the park-side path junction.

Head towards the Serpentine, follow its northern side, cross Serpentine Bridge and return along the southern side of the lake and the park paths.

Getting there

Hyde Park Corner station is the closest Tube stop to this start. From Paddington or Bayswater, another park entrance may be more convenient.

Hyde Park’s pedestrian gates are listed as open 05:00–00:00. Check park notices for event diversions. Kensington Gardens next door has separate opening hours.

Regent’s Park

The Broad Walk runs north from the formal Avenue Gardens into open parkland. This circuit takes in the western paths before returning south, close to Marylebone and Baker Street.

Start here

At the southern end of the Broad Walk, inside the park near the Avenue Gardens.

Follow the Broad Walk north, turn west across the park, then work back through the southern paths. The route crosses park roads; it does not include Primrose Hill.

Getting there

Approach from Regent’s Park station via Park Square East and cross Outer Circle into the park. Baker Street is another option for the western entrances.

Regent’s Park closes in the evening and closing times change with the season. Check today’s hours before a late run; give way at the park-road crossings.

London Eye to Tower Bridge

London Eye, National Theatre, Tate Modern, Tower Bridge: this run follows a stretch of London you may already have on your sightseeing list. Turn back early for a shorter distance.

Start here

On the riverside promenade just north of the London Eye, on the south bank.

Follow the south-bank paths east past the National Theatre and Tate Modern. Continue via the signed streets around Bankside and London Bridge to Tower Bridge, then retrace your route.

Getting there

Walk from Waterloo station, or cross Westminster Bridge from Westminster station to reach the south bank.

Before you go

This is shared sightseeing space, so choose an easy pace and give pedestrians room. Expect steps and short street diversions, particularly around London Bridge; follow signs if a riverside section is closed.
